Harriet Miers

Over the next couple weeks, we'll be talking about the process by which the President deals with Congress. Nowhere is this more pronounced than when a Supreme Court nomination takes place. I would like to remind yourself of the name Harriet Miers, and then please read this link for Tuesday. You can do so here.

I've held a personal thought about the Miers nomination since she withdrew, perhaps it's a bit of a conspiracy theory, but I believe the plan from the beginning was to nominate Harriet merely to appease moderate and conservative voices, but both the President and Mrs. Miers planned on her withdrawl so he could then nominate a much more conservative judge to the possition with the defense to more liberal opponents that he attempted a more moderate nominee but that failed, therefor this very seasoned veteran of the bench, however conservative, is a natural next choice.
